Flip Extreme has the 14' Warped Wall, Salmon Ladder, Giant Monkey Bars, ropes, rings and many of the other obstacles used in the popular, American Ninja Warrior TV Series. Flip's coaches and trainers will help your son or daughter learn to tackle the obstacles safely. Physical preparation is a big component of this program but ample time is also spent on fun, exciting and challenging obstacles.

GYM & JUMP FOR TWEENS & TEENS

This is our Olympic style gymnastics and trampoline program. Boys and girls learn skills and routines using the vault, bars, beams, floor exercise, rings, tumble track and trampolines. Coaches track each participant's skill development using 'Flip Trackers'. This enables kids to pick up from where they've left off each session and keeps the class challenging and level appropriate. Minimum age: 9 years. Maximum age: 14 years 11 months.

GYM & JUMP - Intermediate

Boys and girls who have mastered basic - intermediate level skills such as cartwheels on the beam, roundoff and front handspring on floor, pull-overs and back hip circles on bars, can easily climb a rope to the top and can perform a strong, well executed front flips on trampoline, are encouraged to advanced into Intermediate Gym & Jump. This program is also suitable for former pre-competitive gymnasts who want a challenge and want to improve without the pressure of competition or training a large number of hours each week.

Please note this class has prerequisites and requires an evaluation by the Youth, Tween & Teen Program Director.

GYM & JUMP - Advanced

Tweens and teens, who are at an advanced level and able to perform skills such as: roundoff back handspring and front or back walkovers, kip up on bars, handsprings on vault and back flips on the trampoline are encouraged to join the Advanced Gym & Jump program. This program is also suitable for former competitive gymnasts who want to be challenged and have fun without the pressures of competing or training long hours. Minimum age is 9 years. Maximum age is 17 years. At the discretion of the coach and class, students may also have an opportunity to sample teeter board, trampo wall, Chinese Pole and other circus events. The focus however, will be on gymnastic apparatus.

This fast moving program is designed to improve strength, cardio and flexibility through parkour type of activities (applied or urban gymnastics), stunt training (low falls, high falls, mini tramp, staff & sabre manipulation) and trampoline. Parkour is the sport of moving from one place to another as efficiently as possible; this includes using various vaulting and tumbling skills which can be adapted to an urban environment. Once students have mastered various skills, the skills are integrated into obstacle courses which include vaults, bars, ropes and rings. Participants are divided into groupings based on age and experience. Minimum age is 9 years. Maximum age is 14 years, 11 months.

CIRCUS SAMPLER FOR TWEENS & TEENS

Boys and girls are challenged through a variety of fun and exciting circus, trampoline and acrobatic activities. Events covered include: Aerial silks, trapeze, aerial hoop, Chinese pole, walking globes, slack line, various props, trampoline, tumbling and acrobatics. Groupings are based on age and experience with an 8:1 student - coach ratio. 'Flip Trackers' are used to monitor each participant's progress to ensure athletes pick up where they left off the previous session. There are performance opportunities at the end of each session.

Once participants have a strong base in circus, trampoline and acrobatics, they are encouraged to advance into Circus TRAC (trampo wall, trampoline, teeter board, Russian Bar, acrobatics and Chinese Pole) , Circus ATA (Aerials, trampoline, tumbling and acrobatics) or Cirque du Flip (a performance program). Minimum age for Tween & Teen Circus Sampler is 9 years, maximum age is 14 years, 11 months.

CIRQUE DU FLIP

Cirque du Flip is a performance program for youth and teens who have a solid base in circus, gymnastics, trampoline or related discipline. Emphasis on developing group and individual routines. Performers collaborate with coaches to determine which events will be their focus. Events include: Aerial hoop, aerial silks, trapeze, Russian Bar, Chinese Pole, teeter board, tumbling and acrobatics. This program runs from September - December and January - June. Each session culminates with a full scale show complete with costumes, make-up, professional lighting and sound. Cirque du Flip will also provide the basis for Flip's Performance Troupes which will represent the organization at various local, provincial, national and international events. Fall performances will be held on Sunday, December 10. Minimum age is 9 years.

SUMMER SAMPLER DROP-IN

This is a structured drop-in class for kids 7-12 years old, beginner - intermediate level provides opportunities to sample: Circus, Gymnastics, Trampoline, Ninja Warrior, Stunt Training and Parkour. Coaches lead kids through a fun warm-up before dividing class into smaller groups. Groups rotate every 15-20 minutes to a different activity. Groups are of mixed levels with coaches at each area teaching skills and encouraging participants to work to the best of their ability.

Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 4 - Aug. 31 (no classes Aug. 8 or Aug. 10). Time: 6:00-7:15pm
Cost: $20/participant/class. Call ahead to book a spot.

TRAMPOLINE

You're never too old to flip! This class accommodates beginners through to advanced recreational participants. A safe approach is taken to ensure basics and non-inverted skills are mastered before advancing onto flipping skills. The class is mixed levels. It's a great work out and lots of fun! Flip has a total of 5 full sized trampolines and 40 foot and 20 foot long tumble track trampolines.

*Please note that Spring Session Trampoline class has been cancelled. Trampoline classes will resume for Summer Session beginning on July 3 on Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 7:30 - 8:30 PM.

Minimum age for this program in Winter & Spring session is 15 years. Minimum age for Summer session is 13 years. There is no maximum age limit!

CIRCUS AERIALS

It's 2017 and running away with the circus is the best way to keep fit, keep motivated, have fun and cross another one off the bucket list! You do not require any experience or special training, just a desire to learn some very unique skills, develop amazing core strength and be a hot topic of conversation with your friends. Men and women are taught a variety of skills and combinations using aerial silks, aerial hoop and trapeze. Also covered are basic acrobatics and individual or partner balancing. Personalized training programs cater to each individual's goals and fitness objectives.

Minimum age for this program in Winter & Spring session is 15 years. Minimum age for Summer session is 13 years. There is no maximum age limit!

PROP JAM

Looking for a great space to spin, juggle and mingle? Flip hosts drop-in Prop Jam for circus artists, buskers, and anyone else needing high ceilings, good floors and a 30 foot stretch of mirrors for honing their talents. Sunday afternoon jam is held in Flip Arts (24 foot ceilings and 30 feet of mirrors, all props welcome). You can bring your own equipment or borrow pieces from Flip. Sorry - no fire props yet - we're working on it! Minimum age is 12 years, there is no maximum age limit.

UNDER THE BIG TOP CIRCUS CAMP

This camp features elite level performers and coaches from around the world. This full day, week long intensive circus training camp is open to youth and teens (9-17 years). Beginner to advanced athletes train on a number of circus events: silks, aerial hoop, trapeze, globes, teeter board, Chinese Pole, trampolines, trampo wall and circus props. Participants are divided into small groups based on age and athletic ability. In addition to learning a variety of skills, participants will be coached in stage presentation, make-up and performance techniques. The week will culminate with two 'Cirque-style' performances open to the public (Friday at 4:00pm and 6:00pm). Before and after care is available, healthy bag lunches and snacks are also available. Proceeds from this special camp are donated to charity. Our recipient for 2016 was Kidsport.

Please note that Flip Under the Big Top will not be running for Summer 2017. Under the Big Top Circus Camp will return for Summer 2018!

OPEN CIRCUS TRAINING

This is a great opportunity for experienced circus artists to train in one of Western Canada's best equipped circus training centers. This Sunday drop-in provides rigging points for a variety of apparatus: Aerial silks, aerial hoop, static and swinging trapeze, corde de lis, cloud swing and straps. You can bring your own equipment or rent equipment from Flip. A Flip supervisor will be on hand however, this is not a structured class. Minimum age is 15.
